Moving during COVID-19 pandemic (Coronavirus)
Dear visitor,
We inform you that despite the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), the moving companies of the Gvota platform continue to provide moving services to customers.
However, the health and safety of our customers and the movers remains our priority. Please follow the guidelines below.
Guidelines to help you stay safe
As the largest moving platform in Quebec, we strongly advise our clients and movers to follow the instructions below in order to stay safe.
We thank you for your cooperation.
Instructions to customers
1. Hire only professional movers
Avoid hiring unverified movers due to the cheaper price, especially those found in special announcements.
Find verified movers
2. Avoid visits from estimators
Each new visitor to your home increases the risk of transimiting the virus, and moving evaluators are certainly not an exception. As emphasized by the government of Québec, all non-essential visits are to be avoided during the pandemic where possible. Physical visits to estimate your moving are not required, and can be easily performed online.
Note, that Gvota uses carefully designed forms for virtual estimation to help you complitely eliminate the need for physical visits.
3. Respect the quarantine
It is very important to inform the movers if you have just returned from a vacation from abroad, or if you are in quarantine. Postpone the date of your move at least 15 days after the date of your arrival, or after the end of quarantine.
4. Limit the number of people
Avoid gathering your friends and loved ones to help you move.
5. Prepare your new accommodation
Before moving, clean and disinfect your new home with bleach or other disinfectants, if possible.
6. Take the necessary precautions during the move
Avoid direct contacts and keep a safety distance of at least 2 meters with the movers. Use protective gloves and masks. Wash your hands more frequently with soap. Use hydroalcoholic gel.
7. Disinfect your belongings
After moving, clean your belongings with bleach or other disinfectants before touching them. Remember that the coronavirus (COVID-19) can survive for 3 hours on dry surfaces and 6 days on moist surfaces.
For more details on the coronavirus (COVID-19), please consult the "Self-Care Guide - COVID-19" of the government of Quebec.
Instructions for movers
1. Delegate a healthy team
Before sending your teams out to customers, make sure the members have no fever, cough or other symptoms of COVID-19.
2. Take the necessary precautions during the move
Avoid direct contact and keep a safety distance of at least 2 meters from customers. Use protective gloves and masks. Clean your hands regularly with hydroalcoholic gel.
3. Use new mattress bags
Always use new mattress bags and leave them with the customer after the moving. Reusing mattress bags can spread the virus.
4. Use different blanket sets
Equip your trucks with multiple blanket sets. Use a new set of blankets for each moving on the same day. Collect used blankets in plastic bags, and keep them in isolation for 24 hours (if the blankets are dry).
5. Disinfect trucks and equipment
Disinfect your trucks and the equipment before and after each move, if possible. Remember that the coronavirus (COVID-19) can survive for 3 hours on dry surfaces and 6 days on moist surfaces.
